CLINTON, Ohio - Another record for freshman Danielle Sawyer, and another team mark for the ever-improving Central Michigan golf team.
Sawyer shot 79 Tuesday in the final round of the Toledo Rocket Classic at Catawba Island Golf Club to finish tied for 11th place at 229, a CMU-program record.
The freshman from Grafton, Ont., Can., shot a Chippewa-record 72 in the second round of the tournament on Monday and led the Chippewas to a 937 team score and a seventh-place finish in the 14-team event. The 937 total is the best in the history of the program, topping the 940 the Chippewas posted three weeks ago at the Ball State Cardinal Classic.
