MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The perception of the Central Michigan women’s basketball team as a legitimate contender in the Mid-American Conference would be difficult to validate prior to the 2015-16 season.
More than two-and-a-half months into the season that notion doesn’t seem so unrealistic, as CMU finds itself 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the league, putting it second in the MAC West standings behind Ball State (14-4, 6-1).
The Chippewas play host to Western Michigan Wednesday (7 p.m.) in a conference matchup in McGuirk Arena. The Broncos are 12-7, 4-3.
