MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women’s basketball team will play in the Preseason Women’s NIT.
It marks the first time the Chippewas have been invited to the event, which will mark its 23rd anniversary when the 2016-17 season tips off.
Dates and first-round matchups for the 16-team field will be announced later. The field includes Notre Dame, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado State.
Eight teams will be making their Preseason WNIT debut, and 11 of the participants reached the NCAA or the WNIT in 2016.
All games, including the championship and consolation rounds, are hosted by participating schools.
