MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – There were a lot of variables, a lot of unknown quantities and qualities, both on the court and off for the Central Michigan volleyball team in 2016, Mike Gawlik’s first year at the helm of the program.
Much of that is behind the Chippewas now as they embark on the 2017 season, opening on Friday at the two-day Army Invitational. CMU is scheduled to play St. Francis Brooklyn and Hartford on Friday, and then close the tournament on Saturday against the host Black Knights.
Gawlik, a longtime assistant at Michigan State, was named the Chippewas’ head coach on Jan.
