Venerable veterans: Central Michigan sixth-year seniors Jesse Kroll, Kenny Rogers embracing final college season

If everything had gone according to plan during their Central Michigan football careers, Jesse Kroll and Kenny Rogers would no longer be donning the maroon and gold.

Instead, multiple years of dealing with season-ending injuries put Kroll and Rogers in position for medical redshirts and a sixth year of NCAA eligibility.

Kroll, a wide receiver out of tiny Algoma High School in Wisconsin, has been dealing with comedian teammates at spring practice every day who love to remind him he’s been on the roster since 2011.

Fellow senior wide receiver Anthony Rice, who is a more traditional fifth-year player, supplies much of the ammo toward Kroll.
