On paper both teams won five bouts and each team scored one major decision. And since there were no pins and no technical falls the winner of the match was determined by the fourth criteria, which happens to be total points scored.
In the end the 22nd-ranked Panthers outscored the 13th-ranked Chippewas 47-43 on the day and in doing so got an additional criteria point for a 17-16 victory.
