DeKALB, Ill. – Cooper Rush hit Tyler Conklin with a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third overtime Saturday as Central Michigan pulled out a thrilling 34-28 victory over Northern Illinois at Huskie Stadium.
The win, CMU’s second straight, lifted the Chippewas to 5-2 overall, 2-1 MAC. It was their third straight victory over NIU, the six-time defending MAC West champion. The Huskies are 1-6, 1-2.
“The players fought their tails off today,” CMU coach John Bonamego said. “At times this one wasn’t pretty, but down the stretch we made the plays when we needed to to get the win.
