Track teams place second to Eastern Michigan, top Oakland

Sophomore Ryan Vincent approaches his mark for the pole vault Feb. 28 during the MAC Indoor Track Championships at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track. Vincent cleared 4.58 meters to place 10th.

In the first scored meet of the season, the Central Michigan track and field teams had weaknesses exposed.

CMU’s men (109 points) and women (102 points) placed second at the Eastern Michigan Triangular on Saturday, the second competition of any kind this season for the Chippewas.

Eastern Michigan — ranked second in the Mid-American Conference for the men and first for the women — placed first in the men’s (138 points) and women’s (140 points) competition, leaving Oakland in third place.
