AKRON, Ohio - The top-seeded Central Michigan University softball team was eliminated from the Mid-American Conference Tournament Friday as the Chippewas fell to Northern Illinois by a final of 3-0.
With the defeat CMU closes the 2017 docket out with a record of 37-15 after going 1-2 in the tournament,
Northern Illinois’ Keegan Hayes, who picked up the win, and Tara Thacker limited the Chippewas to no runs on five hits while striking out three and walking one.
The Huskies, who advanced to take on the winner of the WMU vs. Akron game, scored one run in the top of the third and added two more in the top of the fourth.
