Kaden Keon was biding his time in his first year on the Central Michigan football roster, fully expecting to use the year as a redshirt where he could adapt to the college game and prepare himself to compete for a job in future years.
Sometimes expectations do not mesh with reality.
Midway through the regular season, in the week leading up to a game at Northern Illinois, the St. Louis High School graduate and true freshman kicker received some startling news from Chippewas head coach John Bonamego.
“I knew [CMU senior kicker Brian Eavey] was dealing with a groin injury,” Keon said.
