Sophomore running back Ward succeeds 1,000 yards in 2017

Sophomore running back Jonathan Ward runs with the ball during the football game against the University of Rhode Island on Aug. 31 in Kelly / Shorts Stadium.

Even though the Central Michigan football team lost 37-14 in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl against Wyoming, sophomore running back Jonathan Ward etched his name in the history books.

For the first time since Dan LeFevour in 2007, Ward ran for over 1,000 yards in a single season.

In the 2007 season, LeFevour completed 355-of-543 passes for 3,652 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. On the ground, he logged 188 carries for 1,122 yards and 19 touchdowns.
