PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – An historic victory, followed by a game the Chippewas would like to quickly forget.
Chelsea DeLamielleure homered and pitcher Rachael Knapp struck out 12 as the Central Michigan softball team toppled ninth-ranked Arizona, 4-1, in the Chippewas first game Saturday at Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at Big League Dreams.
The Chippewas (4-5) dropped their second game of the day, 23-0, to 10th-ranked Washington. CMU closes the event on Sunday (noon) against Arkansas. The Chippewas are 1-3 in the Classic after losses on Friday to Texas A&M and Cal Poly.
