Season preview: Young but battle-tested Central Michigan baseball tabbed for second in MAC West

With temperatures expected to reach the 50s in mid-Michigan in a couple days, that can only mean one thing – baseball is right around the corner.

While the Central Michigan University baseball team is not scheduled to open its home schedule at Theunissen Stadium until March 14 against Marygrove College, the Chippewas begin their season in the usual road warrior fashion Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they start a three-game series at East Tennessee State.

Central Michigan is coming off a 2016 season that started in dismal fashion at 8-29 through 37 games before picking up steam and eventually finishing the year at 23-37.
