Warren senior Ben McCord talks to a teammate on the sidelines during the Chippewas' game against Eastern Michigan University on Nov. 27, 2015 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, former Central Michigan University football tight end Ben McCord has reached a deal with the Detroit Lions.

The Lions were down to two healthy tight ends at last week's Organized Team Activities. The team lost Tim Wright to a torn ACL and starter Eric Ebron was sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

McCord, a 6-foot-3, 237-pound Warren native, accounted for 37 receptions, 570 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season — earning Mid-American Conference Second Team honors.
