MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan’s Lexi Pelafas has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer.
Pelafas, a junior from Wheaton, Ill., scored four goals as the Chippewas split two games last weekend.
Pelafas spearheaded the Chippewas’ 5-0 victory over Toledo with her second hat trick of the season and of her career. She scored all three of her goals consecutively.
Her first came in the eighth minute as she curled in a shot from the top of the box; her second, in the 25th minute, came when she beat the Toledo goalkeeper one-on-one after a Rocket turnover; and her third came early in the second half on a beautiful strike from 19 yards out after she beat two defenders around the left wing.
