MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s Joe Ostman has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Ostman, a senior from Mackinaw City, had four sacks to spearhead the Chippewa defense in a 56-9 victory at Ball State on Saturday.
He finished with five tackles and forced a fumble. He leads all Football Bowl Subdivision teams with 10 sacks this season, and has 24 for his career, the third-highest total in CMU history.
The Chippewa defense held Ball State to 208 total yards including 81 on the ground.
