Central Michigan University freshman wrestler Justin Oliver nailed down All-American honors Saturday at the NCAA Championships.

The Davison native finished in seventh-place at 149-pounds at the season finale which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

With the showing he becomes CMU’s first freshman All-American in wrestling since current assistant coach Ben Bennett in 2010.

The top-eight placers in each weight division earn All-American honors.

Oliver opened the season as a back-up at 149 pounds behind Colin Heffernan but started to make a name for himself when Heffernan was sidelined with an injury in December.
