MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s win over Chicago State on Friday wasn’t exactly pretty.
The Cougars’ defense had a lot to do with that, as they at times employed a zone and held the nation’s leading scorer, CMU’s Marcus Keene, to a season-low 16 points.
The Chippewas were deep enough and diverse enough to overcome Chicago State, and the experience of having faced that type of defense could pay off immediately.
CMU goes to Eastern Michigan on Tuesday (7 p.m.) for its Mid-American Conference opener.
