Late rally lifts Kent State over CMU softball

Kent State has been a thorn in Central Michigan’s side for years now.

Over the span of the last decade the Golden Flashes had won 14 of the 17 regular-season games between the two softball programs all while sweeping the regular-season series five times.

On Saturday afternoon the Chippewas took the first two games of this weekend’s three-game set from Margo Jonker Stadium via 1-0 (11 innings) and 9-2 victories and it appeared they were primed to get their first regular-season sweep over Kent State since 2011 as they took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning Sunday.
