MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s Rachael Knapp was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week after leading the Chippewas to four wins in five games over the weekend at the Madiera Beach Invitational.
Knapp, a senior right-hander from St. Joseph, went 3-0 with three shutouts in the invitational. She recorded 37 strikeouts, walked just four, and allowed 11 hits over 20 innings.
Knapp posted a season-high 15 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over North Dakota; she struck out eight in tossing a four-hitter in CMU’s 11-0 victory over UMass; and she fanned 14 and walked one in fashioning a five-hitter in a 7-09 win over Siena.
