MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Marcus Keene received honorable mention on the Associated Press All-America basketball team, released on Wednesday.
Keene, a 5-foot-9 junior guard from San Antonio, became this season the first NCAA Division I player in two decades to average 30 points per game. He scored a Mid-American Conference single-season record 959 points and is the first player in league history to surpass the 900-point mark in a season.
Keene, who announced on Tuesday his intention to leave CMU and pursue a career in professional basketball, is the first CMU player to receive All-America recognition since Chris Kaman in 2003.
