Central Michigan’s defense and rebounding is as soft as Kleenex.
It has at times been a consistent theme during Keno Davis’ five-year run as CMU head coach, but in 2016-17 the deficiences are more pronounced than the last two years when he turned the program into a Mid-American Conference contender.
Until those issues are fixed and perhaps they aren’t fixable, expect the Chippewas to be closer to a bottom dweller than a contender.
While Central Michigan played spectacular basketball at times on the offensive end at times Tuesday night at home versus Akron, defensive inefficiencies proved costly again as it lost 89-85 to the preseason MAC favorites.
