MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Simmer was the word Central Michigan football coach John Bonamego chose in addressing his team at the end of Wednesday’s practice.
Appropriate considering the Chippewas’ annual showdown with archrival Western Michigan is a week away. There will be plenty of time to bring it to a boil and then a raging fire before the Chippewas visit Kalamazoo on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
“It’s a little bit different, it’s not as rowdy,” said senior offensive tackle Derek Edwards, who has been a part of the Central-Western rivalry for a half-decade, about the Chippewas’ vibe.
