MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The mercury touched 90, there was barely a cloud in the sky.
Great day to head to the beach, take a boat ride, or play a round of golf.
Not so for coach John Bonamego and the Central Michigan football team as the Chippewas hit the brand-new Kelly/Shorts Stadium turf Friday afternoon for the first practice of the 2016 season.
“Like any first practice you’re going to have a hundred different things that you need to work on -- that’s to be expected,” said Bonamego, the former Chippewa player who led CMU to a 7-6 record, a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division title, and a berth in the Quick Lane Bowl last year in his first season.
