MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan cornerback Amari Coleman was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas’ 24-21 victory on Saturday over Ball State.
Coleman, a junior from Flint, made four tackles, broke up three passes and made the game-clinching interception in the end zone with under two minutes remaining as CMU snapped a two-game losing streak.
It marks the first time Coleman has earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Coleman has recorded 17 tackles, defended nine passes, broken up six pass, and made three interceptions this season.
