Central Michigan's field hockey team tried its best to finish the season on a high note, but ultimately fell in overtime to Ball State on Friday.
In overtime, BSU sophomore midfielder Hillary Scott assisted senior midfielder Carley Shannon to score the game-winning goal at 74:49 to give the Cardinals the lead and the 1-0 win in Muncie, Indiana.
CMU and BSU were tied in shooting with nine shots each in the game. The Cardinals went 5-2 in the first half, while CMU landed 6-6.
