FARMVILLE, Va. – The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped its Mid-American Conference opener, 4-0, to Longwood on Saturday at the Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
The Chippewas slipped to 0-8 and are scheduled for a nonconference matchup at VCU on Sunday (1 p.m.) at the Cary Street Field.
“Longwood is very good,” CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. “We knew that they would be threatening from an attacking standpoint, but we really neutralized their threat up front. The quality of our play was inconsistent, but there was also some major growth.
