Field hockey bested by MSU 7-1

Following a successful exhibition game against Toronto, CMU field hockey lost Thursday 7-1 against No. 25 Michigan State.

The Chippewas have dropped their last three games.

Michigan State jumped out to an early lead, scoring two goals within the first 17 minutes of the game.

Near the end of the first period, the Chippewas got on the board with a goal from sophomore Grace Forthaus, slimming the Spartan's lead to 2-1. It was her first goal of the season. CMU was out shot 17-3 in the period.

A lack of offensive productivity plagued CMU in the second half.
