MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Eight members of the 2017 Central Michigan softball team have received the All-America Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The honor goes to players who maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the academic year.

The Chippewas honored are Maison Kalina, Taylor Lewallen, Evelyn Lorimer, Gina Munson, Kayla Noch, Courtney Streich, Laura Vaccaro and Rachel Vieira.

It marks the fourth consecutive year that Lorimer, who graduated in 2017 and hails from Spring Lake, has earned the distinction, and the second time in as many years that Lewallen, Kalina, Munson, Noch, Vaccaro and Vieira have.
