CMU’s Chapman drafted first overall in CFL Draft Thursday

TORONTO - Former Central Michigan University wide receiver Mark Chapman was drafted first overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Thursday night’s Canadian Football League Draft.

Chapman is the highest CMU football player to ever be drafted in the CFL Draft, besting defensive back Eric Fraser who went eighth overall to Calgary in the 2009 CFL Draft.

Chapman is also the second Chippewa to be drafted first overall, joining Eric Fisher who was the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft in 2013.

For his career Chapman caught 147 passes for 2,035 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 2,035 career receiving yards rank ninth all time in CMU history.
