CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Taken on the whole, not a bad overall performance for the Central Michigan wrestlers.
Taken on its own, Sunday was a remarkable day for the Chippewas, considering what was at stake and the hole they had dug themselves with a subpar performance on Saturday.
Colin Heffernan placed second and four other Chippewas made the long road back after Saturday losses to finish third in their respective weight classes as CMU took third in the nine-team Mid-American Conference Championships at Northern Iowa’s McLeod Center.
“Our guys came back and fought today and we showed a lot of grit and pride -- Chippewa pride,” CMU coach Tom Borrelli said.
