There was a time when Central Michigan University wrestling was the team to beat year-in and year-out in the Mid-American Conference.
Between 1998 and 2012 Tom Borrelli and his Chippewas claimed 14 MAC Tournament wrestling titles and 12 regular-season titles.
Yet that was then and this is now and the now doesn’t have Borrelli and company sitting atop the conference.
Since the MAC brought Missouri in as a conference wrestling member some six years ago the Tigers have effectively knocked the Chippewas from their top perch and that trend continued this weekend as Missouri was the runaway winner at the 2018 MAC Wrestling Championships hosted by CMU from McGuirk Arena.
