SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Central Michigan University women’s basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season Friday as it topped Utah Valley 71-62 at the Cal Poly Invite.
The Chippewas raced out to a 16-11 lead at the end of one quarter before claiming a 27-13 lead going into the half.
From there CMU reeled off a 24-15 run in the third quarter to seal it.
Utah Valley outscored CMU 24-20 in the fourth but it was too little too late.
Senior captain Jewel Cotton led the charge for the Chippewas as she finished with 16 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
