The Central Michigan University softball team locked up a berth in this upcoming week’s Mid-American Conference Tournament on Saturday by topping host Northern Illinois 4-1.
With the victory the Chippewas (24-25-1, 11-11-1 MAC) secured the eighth and final seed at the MAC Tournament which opens Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
CMU went 9-3 in its final 12 games and took two of three from the MAC West Division champion Huskies (33-18, 13-10) this past weekend to secure a spot in the tournament for a seventh-straight season.
The Chippewas will play top-seeded Kent State (35-20, 16-7) at 1 p.
