Central Michigan University announced the hiring of its new Director of Track and Field/Cross Country on Tuesday morning during a press conference from McGuirk Arena.
Former CMU distance runner and alumni Jenny Swieton will take over the program starting on Aug. 14 and will replace Mark Guthrie who resigned in mid-June to take a position at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
She signed a three-year contract that will run through the 2020 season.
“I wouldn’t even be in coaching today if it wasn’t for the influences I had while I was here,” said Swieton, a Flint native who ran distance at CMU from 1998 through 2002.
