MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan is ranked 17th and 20th and five Chippewas are ranked individually in the InterMat preseason rankings.
The Chippewas are 17th in the publication’s dual-meet rankings and 20th in its tournament rankings. Penn State, which has won six of the last seven NCAA championships, is ranked first in both.
Just one Mid-American Conference team, Missouri, is ranked ahead of the Chippewas. The Tigers are fifth in both polls.
Junior Justin Oliver (149 pounds) is the highest-ranked Chippewa, sixth. CMU’s Jordan Ellingwood is ninth at 184, while CJ Brucki (174) and Colin Heffernan (157) are both 12th.
