The storylines were numerous in number.
But, in the end, it’s the storyline that lies on the horizon that holds the most intrigue.
On Saturday afternoon from Central Michigan University’s Margo Jonker Stadium the host Chippewas put on a hitting clinic en route to a five-inning, mercy-rule shortened, 9-1 victory over visiting Northern Illinois.
The win was a perfect segue within the confines of the doubleheader as the 1987 team was honored between games, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its fifth-place finish at the Women’s College World Series which is arguably the greatest single-team achievement in CMU athletic’s history alongside the wrestling team’s fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in the late 1990s.
