MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Akron scored in the 85th minute Friday in forging a 1-1 tie with Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference soccer match at the CMU Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
Lexi Pelafas gave CMU a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game off a Savannah Beetcher assist. It was Pelafas’ team-leading eighth goal of the season.
CMU (5-4-2, 0-2-1 MAC) will look to pick up its first conference win when it plays host to Buffalo (4-5-1, 2-1) on Sunday (noon).
“There’s a little bit of frustration for us not to capitalize early in the game and find a second goal,” CMU coach Peter McGahey said.
