MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Getting nine wrestlers to the NCAA Championships is a nice accomplishment, even historical, for the Central Michigan wrestling program.
But getting to St. Louis isn't the ultimate goal. Being competitive, scoring team points, and making it to the podium are where it's at for coach Tom Borrelli as he and the 17th-ranked Chippewas hit the mat with the best of the best beginning Thursday at Scottrade Center.
"I'm happy with the number of qualifiers," Borrelli said. "But then you look forward from there and you don't want to just go to the tournament and fill out the bracket.
