Chippewas Down Michigan State, 1-0, In Soccer Exhibition

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women’s soccer team defeated Michigan State, 1-0, on Saturday in an exhibition game at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.

Lexi Palafas scored in the 51st minute. McKay Matheson assisted. Pelafas, a junior, scored a program-record 16 goals in 2016.

“Lexi’s a natural goal-scorer if you give her a chance,” CMU coach Peter McGahey said. “I thought McKay made a really good decision on the set piece, served a very good ball in and Lexi did what Lexi does. Get her free inside the 18 box and she’s one of the most dangerous players in the country.
