KALAMAZOO - The Central Michigan University women’s basketball team earned a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division title Saturday afternoon via a 73-61 victory at rival Western Michigan.
The Chippewas (19-8, 13-3) will have two attempts to win the outright MAC West title and clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament, beginning with a 7 p.m. showdown Wednesday at Toledo. Central Michigan will wrap up the regular season March 5 with a 1 p.m. start versus Eastern Michigan at McGuirk Arena.
Saturday’s game was deadlocked 35-35 at halftime, but CMU began to pull away in the early stages of the third quarter as five minutes in it became a 53-39 game.
