Central Michigan will open its season with an exhibition game Saturday afternoon, hosting Slippery Rock (Pa.) at 1:30 p.m. inside McGuirk Arena.
The Chippewas enter the 2016-17 campaign fresh off back-to-back Mid-American Conference West Division titles, but are counting on many fresh faces to step into prominent roles following the graduation of a core group of contributors.
Slippery Rock has the benefit of a game under its belt, an 83-48 loss at Tennessee in which its own new-look roster committed 30 turnovers.
“We don’t really gameplan for a scrimmage or an exhibition game, but we will do some to get our players in a routine,” CMU head coach Keno Davis said.
