Central Michigan 'healthy' as annual spring game nears

John Bonamego mentioned the word “healthy” several times following Tuesday morning’s practice.

He was not referring to himself, though that would also make sense considering the Central Michigan football head coach endured a battle with tonsil cancer last year and was declared cancer-free in November.

Bonamego was instead discussing the positives of having a healthy roster during the 15-practice schedule as the Chippewas prepare for the April 16 spring game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

“Our scrimmage Saturday I thought was really good,” Bonamego said. “We competed, there was good back and forth. The offense looked good in spurts.
