MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Record-wise, the 2016 season was nothing to write home about for the Central Michigan baseball team.
But the resolve and the fortitude the Chippewas displayed spoke volumes.
The Chippewas finished 24-27, battling their way through a 5-23 start to win 19 of their last 33 games. A battered and bruised CMU team posted three of those victories, consecutively, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, coming away with a measure of pride and a legitimate optimism that it had survived and turned a corner.
