DETROIT >> John Bonamego was one fired up Chippewa to throw out the first pitch on Central Michigan Night, prior to the Detroit Tigers’ game against the Kansas City Royals.
And it was a strike, too.
“Not bad, considering I had no warm-up. I hadn’t thrown a baseball since like May,” said the Central Michigan University football coach with a grin. “Oh, very exciting. Always great to be in Detroit, at a Tiger game, Comerica Park on a Friday night. Pretty tough to beat it. Only better place is Kelly/Shorts (Stadium) in September, October.”
He had only thrown out a first pitch once before, for the Clash at Comerica, when the CMU baseball team took on Michigan State — “That one wasn’t as good.
