MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Yes, Steve Jaksa is happy that his team has won eight of its last 12 games, the last an 8-7 non-conference victory over 19th-ranked Michigan on Wednesday.
“Beats the alternative,” Jaksa has often said after victories.
It does indeed. But the longtime Central Michigan baseball coach knows it’s the next one that counts, and good baseball players have short memories.
The Chippewas welcome Miami (Ohio) for a three-game Mid-American Conference series beginning Friday (3:05 p.m.) at Theunissen Stadium.
“We’ve talked about it and this is our time of year is how I worded it (to the players),” Jaksa said.
