AVON, Ohio – Miami (Ohio) jabbed with the bunt and delivered the staggering blow with the long ball.
Ross Haffey’s fourth-inning three-run homer broke a 3-3 tie and put the RedHawks ahead for good Wednesday as Miami handed Central Michigan a 10-5 loss in the Mid-American Conference Tournament opener at All-Pro Freight Stadium.
The loss knocked the Chippewas (21-36) into the elimination bracket where they will play Western Michigan or Ball State Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
The Chippewas, who had won 10 of their last 13 regular-season games, have not lost back-to-back games since April 30.
