Freshman Dazon Cole got his first start of the year as the Central Michigan baseball team (6-23, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) defeated the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals (11-15) 7-4 in front of a lively Theunissen Stadium on Tuesday.
Cole (1-1, 3.86 ERA) pitched five innings giving up one hit and four walks while striking out three. He threw 78 pitches in his first pitching start since high school.
"He was able to throw multiple pitches for a strike," said Head Coach Steve Jaksa.
