They’ve been waiting six months for this and it looked like it.
On Sunday afternoon from McGuirk Arena the 17th-ranked Central Michigan University wrestling team opened the dual meet portion of its 2016-17 campaign with a dominating 22-10 victory over Virginia.
For the day the Chippewas (1-0), who went 11-5 in duals last season, won seven of the 10 bouts on the card en route to the win over the Cavaliers (0-2). Moreover, they also came out aggressively and took the fight to the fight as if it were a fight they’ve been waiting months for.
“I was pleased with the way we wrestled in the third period,” said veteran CMU head coach Tom Borrelli following the festivities.
