17th-ranked Chippewas ready for No. 10 Michigan

The 17th-ranked Central Michigan University wrestling team plays host to 10th-ranked Michigan in a non-conference dual at 7 p.m. Thursday night from McGuirk Arena.

The Chippewas (5-2) won two Mid-American Conference duals last weekend as they picked apart Old Dominion 28-9 before topping Northern Illinois 33-6 on Sunday.

However, the Wolverines (7-4) are a different beast entirely as they have beaten the Chippewas in three-successive duals and are coming off wins over 11th-ranked Rutgers and 10th-ranked Lehigh.

“It should be a real competitive dual meet between two top-20 teams,” said CMU coach Tom Borrelli. “We’re going to have to win some upsets to beat them,”

The Wolverines bring in five top-20 wrestlers in Conor Youtsay (10th at 125); Steve Micic (7th at 133); Brian Murphy (10th at 157); Logan Messa (2nd at 165) and Myles Amine (8th at 174).
